Soldier Field 10 Miler

Today i ran in the Soldier Field 10 Mile Race. SO MUCH FUN! I told myself when i delivered Whitney a year ago July 3rd that i was going to start training for the Chicago half marathon. I always wanted to do the Soldier Field 10 mile race, but every time i wanted to sign up i was pregnant. I knew we were going to wait a little longer before trying again so i went ahead and signed up for the Soldier field thinking it would be a blast and a good run to get me ready for August! The Rock and Roll Half is going to ROCK:)

Let me tell you, running down the same hall that the Bears run down and onto Soldier field after running 10 miles was a surreal feeling. We were on the jumbo screens and as we crossed the finish line they called out our names:) It was so cool! The adrenalin was amazing (not as good as natural child birth) but it was up there! I can't wait for the Chicago Half!
One of my dads good friends has done something like 50 marathons. He is a rock star. He is also a running coach and writes for Chicago Athlete. I am going to do his running camp in Lake Geneva this summer. Its 2 nights 3 days and consists of seminars, running, massages, meditation, acupuncture, napping and some healthy food. I am pretty excited!

My Orthopedic doctor also recommended a book called Born to Run by Christopher McDougall. It is so my kind of book. Chris McDougall is so smart, here is an excerpt from him personally; "The key secret hit me like a thunderbolt. It was so simple, yet such a jolt. It was this: everything I’d been taught about running was wrong. We treat running in the modern world the same way we treat childbirth—it’s going to hurt, and requires special exercises and equipment, and the best you can hope for is to get it over with quickly with minimal damage." He is such a smart man. Loving this book! Such a different perspective on running then what the modern world has taught us. I would totally recommend it to any runners out there.

After the run we ate brunch at Zella in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood. We sat on the patio. It wasn't sunny out, but the weather was great. Then we went home back in the suburbs and i napped for 3 hours! It was such a great day! Training for the half starts Monday:)

Mothers Day

This was my 3rd Mothers day with Olivia and 1st with Whitney. Strange seeing as though they are only 17 months apart. I can't believe how fast time is flying, but i'm loving it! My mothers day started on Saturday. Brad got me a manicure, which was so nice. I love ME time:) I get it few and far between so i love it! On Sunday Brad and the girls made me breakfast in bed. He has the girls make me this amazing card with their hand prints on them and a poem. I framed it! We went to church and then went back home. Brad surprised me with a picnic at the beach. It was a beautiful day! The girls had a blast and it was actually very relaxing. He put so much thought into the whole day. We also spent time with our moms. First we went to Pride (Brads families business) and hung out with Grammie and Papa Glenn (Brad parents) then we went to my parents house for dinner. Brad and i were both passed out on the couch by 8pm. Thats really early for us! It was a great mothers day. I am so thankful for my mom, Brads mom and for being a mom! I couldn't ask for anything more!

Going to the beach on this beautiful day, had some great photo op opportunities, Brad even remembered my camera. What a great great man:)

What a perfect day, LOVE YOU BRAD! Thanks for making me a mommy!

Happy Birthday My Love

My best friend for the last 11 years, who also happens to be my husband, soul mate, confidant, other half and my biggest fan turns 29 today! So today is fully dedicated to him! This morning he went and played basketball at 6am. When he got back we gave him his birthday presents and cards. We made him a really yummy cheese, green pepper, onion and tomato omelet, bacon and coffee. The girls just loved on him until he had to go to work. Tonight i'm taking him out to dinner, just him and me:) I just love my guy!!!

Brad i am so honored to be your wife and the one you want to travel down the road of life with. I am so blessed to have you and i'm so thankful for the life we have together. I feel like we were just celebrating your 21st birthday down on rush and division and now your turning 29, with two dogs, two daughters and an almost 30 year old wife, yikes! I guess time does fly by. I hope this year will be just as amazing for you as the last one. I love you sweetheart! More then words:) Happy 29th!
